Dear Friend and Colleague,

I am excited to announce that LeaderSpring is recruiting nonprofit leaders from San Francisco for its Class of 2011 Fellowship!  I invite you to help us spread the word.

Since 1997, LeaderSpring has awarded 130 exceptional leaders with an intensive two-year program of leadership development, management training, networking, peer learning, and customized mentoring.  Beatriz Leyva-Cutler, who entered the program as a 15-year veteran executive director of Bay Area Hispano Institute for Advancement (BAHIA), says about the Fellowship: “As executive directors, we often learn by the seat of our pants.  LeaderSpring gives you the opportunity to improve upon your skills in a way that’s intentional and meaningful.  Today, our organization has reached a new level of program service, and my participation in LeaderSpring has been the catalyst.”

I invite you to forward our Call for Applications below to relevant distribution lists and to those nonprofit executive directors who would likely contribute to and benefit from this Fellowship. As you consider who might make the best candidates, you might ask yourself, “Who would I like to learn and grow with for two years? 2009 Call for Fellowship Applications

 The progress of the world will call for the best that all of us have to give.

For executive directors who seek to do their best, LeaderSpring is pleased to again offer a Fellowship to help them to move to their next horizon of personal and organizational growth. The LeaderSpring program is the only locally-based fellowship awarded at no cost to the executive director or his/her agency, and leads to a richly diverse alumni network, now 100 strong.

LeaderSpring, building on its 12-year proven record, invites talented veteran and mid-career nonprofit executive directors based in San Francisco to apply for our two-year, on-the-job Fellowship.  This Fellowship is ideal for those who lead agencies serving low-income communities and communities of color, and who seek to achieve breakthroughs in agency performance while gaining self renewal.  Fellows participate in overnight retreats, monthly day-long gatherings, workshops with seasoned trainers, executive coaching, and a customized week-long study trip to a nationally respected agency.

As LeaderSpring Fellows, executive directors will have an opportunity to achieve personal transformation and an exponential impact in the agencies they lead.  Our Fellows will:

-Enhance the performance of their organizations, including board governance and personnel management;

-Sharpen their leadership and management skills by focusing on practical, real-time issues; and

-Gain new perspectives on social change issues; and

-Build bonds with peers, enabling cross-sector partnerships.

Applications are distributed after a preliminary eligibility screening. To schedule a screening in July or August, contact LeaderSpring at (510) 286-8949 or drew@leaderspring.org.  Applications are due Friday, September 11th, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.  For more information visit www.leaderspring.org.
