Cynthia Chavez was LeaderSpring's executive director from 2000 - 2017. Cynthia has over 25 years of experience in leadership, management, public policy, philanthropy and community building for social change.

Cynthia previously was a management and diversity consultant; her clients included the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. She also served as a staff member for the Kellogg Foundation and worked for various elected officials in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was selected to a one-year stint as a Warren Weaver Fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation. For the past ten years Cynthia has served as an elected board member of the Leadership Learning Community, a national organization of people who run, fund, study and provide services to leadership development programs. She is a certified executive coach and was also one of 15 members appointed to a national think tank, administered by CompassPoint Nonprofit Services, to foster coaching as an effective tool for leadership development.
