San Francisco's Mission District is witnessing a significant advancement in affordable housing with the groundbreaking of a 145-unit development at 1633 Valencia Street. This project, aimed at providing studio apartments for seniors experiencing or at risk of homelessness, is the first to receive funding from the Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund—a $50 million initiative supported by entities like the San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund, Apple, Destination: Home, and Sobrato Philanthropies. The development emphasizes rapid construction and cost-effectiveness, with completion anticipated by December 2025 and occupancy by May 2026.
